Does modern life set us up to transfer actions from voluntary control to automatism? It seems as if many of our daily processes are almost entirely automated these days. While saying this, I am witnessing a small paradigm shift where many people seem explicitly eager to work with their hands again.
While my mental chatter turned all my ideas into scattered thoughts, I felt an urgency to learn how to slow down by working intuitively, letting my mind wander, and my eyes feast on new attractions. Crafts such as ceramics offered me relief at a time most needed.
Automatisme is an explorative project on how ceramics and photography can intertwine with my thoughts and observations. The final work consists of Glazed ceramics, ceramic photo transfers, text, and illustrations.
